"Over the past year I've had to turn down more golfing invitations than I can count ... it must be well over one hundred.  Scheduling or travelling is usually the culprit, but to be brutally honest, some of you guys kind of freak me out - you know who you are - and I feel sort of guilty relief that I'm 'regrettably unable to accept'."
